Of Projects & Alterations,

So yeah, I'm an odd duck. I'm very particular and like things just so. I like things well tailored yet modest.
So while I was very happy with the bustled skirt I got from Damsel in this dress it needed some tweaking to meet my needs. First was it was too big in the waist. So I've added some pleats on the side to pull it in. Second it was a little short for my taste in the front. So I've pinned a 3 1/3" wide embroidered lace to the bottom of the front hem.

Next was the bodice, I wasn't happy the way the other little red one bunched at my waist line. So what I did was cut off the collar I liked so much. I then stitched closed the ends and grommeted it so it could tie onto another bodice. I then grommeted the top of my red diamond bodice I blogged about the other day. I think the red diamonds and lace on the collar go well with the diamond pintuck taffeta and lace edging I have pinned. But before I stitched the lace I wanted to see what you all thought.

At first I was going to make a 3" or 4" satin panel and pleat it along the front edge to lengthen it.
However this morning I was rummaging through my stuff looking for a brown ribbon or bias tape I could use as casing for the Choli blouse I'm working on. (Which looks really good so far! But I need to finish the sleeves)
In my search I found the lace which just so happened to be the right width, AND the PERFECT length for front panel. It's like it was meant to be.
But I don't want to rush, afterall there is wisdom in the multitude of counselors.

So Gals, what do you think?

Also I thought you might like a glimpse of the Corset Belt. Currently the last panels are waiting for Antique Copper Finish Size 0 grommets to arrive so I can finish the last 2 panels of the belt. Wait till you see it with the Choli blouse, it'll look great! :)

Welp, until later dream of velvet and pixiedust. . .

VERY nice! It's all coming together quite nicely. I can't wait to see it all together. :-)
